GABRIELE CORTO MOLTEDO

Founded in 2006, Corto Moltedo was born a brand steeped in history. Founder and designer, Gabriele Corto Moltedo, grew up between New York City and Italy, where his parents owned, managed, and directed the luxury leather goods brand, Bottega Veneta.

From the day he was born, Moltedo witnessed every aspect of the evolution of a luxury brand: from artisans sewing and weaving fine strips of leather into the brand’s trademark intrecciato pattern to the company’s famous marketing slogan “When your own initials are enough.” Craftsmanship and quiet sophistication is what made Bottega Veneta’s leather pieces recognizably different. No brash branding needed.

When Bottega Veneta was sold to the Gucci Group in 2001, Moltedo decided to
fuse his lifelong love of art and leather with his art history education and create
his own eponymous brand.

Preserving his family’s history by honoring craftsmanship, the use of the finest materials, and with a meticulous attention to detail, Moltedo is known for pushing the boundaries of design, often collaborating with artists, creating pieces that are both understated and sure to be noticed.

With operations based in Florence, Corto Moltedo has opened a new retail shop in Rome summer 2023.
